As a one-stop shop for people in need of support for recovery from addiction, there’s nothing else like this in the region. Now, a person dealing with substance use disorder (SUD) or opioid use disorder (OUD) can get life-saving medication, talk with doctors and mental health therapists, and find nonmedical resources at the same time.

Often when addressing substance abuse or addiction, the first problem is dealing with the likelihood of withdrawal. The Detox & Withdrawal Management is a 40 bed unit specializing in acute care of withdrawal related symptoms. Detox & Withdrawal Management has highly trained medical and clinical staff providing 24hr care.

Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) are medications that are used in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies to provide a whole-patient approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. Research shows that medications such as Methadone, Suboxone, and Naltrexone combined with behavioral therapies produce successful outcomes. This combination is a clinically driven, evidence-based approach with a focus on individualized patient care.

The Addiction Medicine Clinic has two programs that offer MOUD Treatment. Clearpath Clinic and OBOT. 

Clearpath Clinic is an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) that provides medically assisted treatment and recovery programs for anyone using heroin, fentanyl, and other opiates. Office Based Opioid Treatment (OBOT) provides medical care and treatment with Suboxone. Opiates are a broad category of drugs that include heroin, morphine, and other narcotic painkillers. Opiate addiction is powerful, but it is also treatable. Our OBOT program offers treatment for Opioid Use Disorder using Suboxone. 

• Vivitrol/oral naltrexone for alcohol use disorder and/or opioid use disorder
• Sublocade injection for opioid use disorder
• Medical cannabis certification
• Staffed hours for walk-in inductions, bridge prescriptions, comfort medications, etc for clients not needing/wanting detox/WDM
• In office inductions/monitoring
• Perform H&Ps for detox/WDM clients for ease of follow up care
• Nicotine replacement prescriptions (patches/gum/lozenges/etc)

We specialize in helping pregnant women address opioid, alcohol, and other Substance Use Disorders. According the Centers for Disease Control, current clinical recommendations for pregnant women with Opioid Use Disorder include Medications for Opioid Use Disorders, rather than supervised withdrawal, due to a higher likelihood of better outcomes and a reduced risk of relapse. All programs at the Center prioritize immediate access for pregnant patients.

Our assessors can administer Walk-In Assessments Monday-Friday 8am to 2pm. Assesors will complete a comprehensive assessment with clients and will make referrals based on the outcome of the assessment. 

We provide both adolescent and adult assessments. Virtual assessments are now available.

Outpatient treatment allows you to live at home and engage in your daily activities. We offer Intensive Outpatient, Individual Counseling, Adolescent Substance Use Disorder & Mental Health counseling, Gambeling Services, and a Relapse Prevention Group. Our Outpatient Programs, Walk-In Comprehensive Assessment Services, and Gambling Program are located in downtown Duluth within the Torrey building. 314 W. Superior Street. Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) requires you to attend a four-hour group session three days a week. Groups meet during the day and in the evening to accommodate your schedule. The length of outpatient treatment varies with each individual.

Our Relapse Prevention Group meets once a week for three hours. This program is geared for people with chemical use problems who do not meet the criteria for intensive outpatient treatment. We also provide specialized services for those who have a dual diagnosis.

Adolescent Outpatient is offering both individual and group sessions. Our groups will be twice a week for two-hour sessions, and individual services as schedule with a counselor. The groups will take place after school and is available for adolescent ages 12 or older.

Adolescent mental health services can include two hour group sessions twice a week, individual sessions, and family sessions. Groups, family, and individual sessions are held by our Mental Health Professional. 

Adult mental health services are available to current Center for Alcohol & Drug Treatment clients. Currently we offering individual sessions to current clients.

Gambling Treatment is FREE for Minnesota residents.

The Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment Gambling Program offers gambling assessments, group and individual counseling, and is facilitated by a licensed professional. 

If you answer “YES” to one or both questions, you may have a gambling problem that deserves further assessment. 

1) Have you ever felt the need to bet more and more money? 

2) Have you ever had to lie to people important to you about how much you gamble?

The Gambling Program is facilitated by a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor who is certified to provide gambling services. Gambling groups are held Monday & Tuesday from 5:00pm-8:00pm and Thursday morning from 9:30am to 12:30am both in-person or virtually. There is an alternative Thursday evening group offered from 5:00pm-8:00pm that is virtual only. Comprehensive Assessments & Individual sessions are available through our certified provider in-person or virtually.

We strongly believe that each individual is different and what has been successful for one person may not work for another. We offer individualized counseling for people who are not ready for primary treatment or who can achieve better results from one-to-one counseling.
