Outpatient

Outpatient Programs

Substance Abuse Disorders are a serious but manageable problem. With support from friends and family, alongside proper treatment, people can find their path to recovery and reduce the negative consequences of alcohol and other drug abuse. We often think of inpatient programs when we hear the word “treatment,” but outpatient treatment can often be just the right fit for many.

Outpatient treatment is a non-residential, group therapy-based treatment for substance use disorder. Unlike inpatient, this type of treatment doesn’t include onsite living/housing arrangements.  Instead, clients live at home and attend their group and individual counseling sessions according to the provided schedule. The average length for most outpatient groups is 10 weeks, but this can vary depending on the needs of each individual. At the Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment, we offer both in-person and remote/virtual options for both group and individual counseling.

Below you can find specific type of Outpatient Treatment at the Center:

  • Intensive Outpatient

With Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor you'll establish a treatment plan with agreed upon, defined and measurable milestones to indicate progress. This type of outpatient treatment is more suitable for people who want to recover from drugs and alcohol, but still want more free time so they can go to work or carry out other day-to-day tasks. Our intensive outpatient groups typically meet for 4 hours, 3 days a week.  All groups require individual sessions with a counselor, which can be conducted either in person, or remotely. This program is designed for adults 18 years of age and older who have been diagnosed with a substance use disorder. In IOP you'll also have the opportunity to meet with your counselor individually weekly or as needed.

We are running three groups every week, an early morning group from 8:30am to 12:30pm, a mid morning group from 10:00am to 2:00pm, and an evening group from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. We space our groups throughout the day to meet each individuals schedule and find a group that best works for their schedule. These sessions are available both in-person and virtually for more accessibility.

Our Intensive Outpatient program also has walk-in intakes available from 10:00am to 12:00pm every Tuesday. Walk-in intakes can be scheduled through our admissions team at admissions@cadt.org

  • Relapse Prevention

Our Relapse Prevention program is intended to serve as an aftercare group, a “step-down” group, or a group for those who need some extra support once they complete intensive outpatient or inpatient treatment.  Our relapse prevention groups typically meet for 3 hours, once a week.  All groups require individual sessions with a counselor, which can be conducted either in person, or remotely.

Our Relapse Prevention group is held on Wednesday from 3:00pm-6:00pm, and available for in-person or remote options.

  • Adolescent Outpatient Program

We are offering Outpatient Adolescent Substance Use Disorder Treatment for adolescents 12 years and older. Our Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor will hold group sessions twice a week on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4pm-6pm. Individual sessions will be scheduled with the counselor. Additionally, our counselor is available Mondays during school hours at Denfeld, East, & Lincoln Park Middle School.

  • Gambling Program

Its important to know that all Gambling Treatment Programs are FREE for Minnesota Residents. We offer Outpatient Group and Individual Gambling counseling. The Gambling Program is facilitated by a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor who is certified to provide gambling services. Gambling groups are held Monday & Tuesday from 5:00pm-8:00pm and Thursday morning from 9:30am to 12:30am both in-person or virtually. There is an alternative Thursday evening group offered from 5:00pm-8:00pm that is virtual only. Comprehensive Assessments & Individual sessions are available through our certified provider in-person or virtually.

How Treatment Starts

Before the program begins, counseling staff will conduct a “comprehensive assessment” which involves asking questions about drug or alcohol use, medical history, medications, mental health issues, family problems, and employment to name a few. An individualized treatment plan will then be developed consisting of goals client and counselor agree to in order to make treatment more effective.
